EDUCATION

National Cat passionately provides humane education throughout our communities to combat the problems of overpopulation and cruelty to all animals. Through literature and public instruction, devoted staff members and volunteers conduct a year-round program of educating adults and youth on how to humanely treat and improve the welfare of felines.

First and foremost, National Cat publicly addresses the ever-present problem of overpopulation. In an effort to reduce it, our staff and volunteers strongly encourage people throughout Southern CA to spay and neuter their pets, in each program they conduct as well as in their everyday lives.

NATCAT regularly appears before adult groups and nursing and retirement homes with our cats to bring some joy to these institutionalized patients. Numerous studies have shown that pet companionship offers therapy and reduces depression, stress, and loneliness. In turn, our cats enjoy individual attention and plenty of TLC.

Our staff and volunteers also appear before primary school classes to teach children how to act and interact with animals. Specifically, National Cat shows them how to properly and gently handle cats and kittens, and even serves as a guide to cat nutrition.
